Competitions

& Parades

Practices are on hold until school resumes. Once the fall school year resumes, the team will return to Tuesday night practices with the band from 5:15-8:30pm. A full schedule will be posted when we know how the start of the year will look.

Football will take place January - March for the 2020-21 school year. Once we have a finalized schedule we will post it here.

For almost 50 years, the FHS Colorguard has been under the direction of one of hard working ladies of the Morey Family and that tradition continues today.

Dorothy Morey started working with the FHS "Flag and Drill Team" in 1971 and continued on as it evolved to become the Foothill Unique Images Colorguard all the way until her retirement in 2006. Although officially retired from the KHSD, Dorothy remains active with the guard and helps with costuming, flag creation, and other items. We lovingly refer to her now as Mama Morey.

Jennifer Morey (now Jennifer West) began writing routines for the FHS Drill Team and then Colorguard while she was a sophomore in high school in 1990. Her senior year she did not march in the guard but instead took on a role as a coach. Jennifer continued to work with the colorguard while she was going to college and was able to continue after being hired to teach English at FHS. During many of those years Jennifer was joined by fellow FHS alum Jesse Apperson who was in colorguard for 3 years at Foothill and now runs the I-squared (formerly Intensity) program. From 2012-2016 Jennifer took more of an advisory position while the 3rd Morey female, Aurielle, took the reins.

Aurielle Morey (now Aurielle Xutex) is the granddaughter of Dorothy and the niece of Jennifer. She first twirled a flag in the FHS cafeteria in elementary school and continued through high school as part of Jennifer's independent teams: Pretense, Little Intense, Intense, and Intensity. Aurielle also marched colorguard for all four years at Bakersfield High School. In the fall of 2017, Aurielle had to take a step back from coaching in order to pursue her dreams of becoming an elementary school teacher.

As the 2018-19 season began we were pleased with the addition of Jessica Reyes to the staff. While Jessica is also a BHS grad like Aurielle, she too got her colorguard start in the FHS cafeteria with the junior programs. She has also spent the last many years coaching at Washington Junior High and we are super excited to have her as part of the Foothill Colorguard Staff. The first field season with Jessica was great but winter season was even better when the team took a gold medal as the Class A Champions for the 2019 winter season.

And then the success continued...

In the fall of 2019 we welcomed Samantha Early to the staff. Sammy was drum major at Ollivier Middle School and then moved to colorguard while she was a student at Golden Valley High School. Sammy was also on the local all star star team I-squared who were finalists at the Winterguard International World Championships in 2019. Sammy and Jessica have been doing an amazing job. at Foothill. The winter season saw the guard moved up to the AA division and then further promoted to the AAA division during the season. Prior to the covid closure, the team was on their way to winning another division title; but sadly the season was cut short and now the team is excited about moving on to the 2020 field season and the grand opening of the new FHS stadium.

The FHS Colorguard has a long legacy of tradition and values and hopes to continue in this way for many years to come.
